Lesson Monday

Welcome to your fifth day of Epicodus!

Here is today's schedule and expectations. It is very similar to last week.

Times are approximate.

6:00-6:15 pm: Standup

You'll start the day with an instructor-led all-hands standup. This is the usual standup that you'll take part in every day for the rest of the Intro course. It's a great time to ask for clarification regardless class structure and expectations.

6:15-6:30 pm: Dev Team Standup

Make sure everyone able to access the video standup in Discord. If not, take time during your Dev Team Standup to make sure everyone is able to participate. For any recurring issues, please reach out to an Instructor.

Use this time to talk about anything that came up last week - such as things you've learned or things that you find exciting or frustrating. This is also a great time to ask each other questions about any content that you might find confusing.

6:30-8:40 pm: Pair Programming

8:40-9:00 pm: Show and Tell Retrospective

Every day at the end of class, you will meet with your dev team in Discord to discuss how the day went. While companies usually don't have daily retrospectives, this is a good practice for students to maximize learning and share work.

Here are potential topics to cover in the retrospective:

  • Show and tell: what did you create today? Share your screen and walkthrough your code.
  • What did you enjoy the most?
  • What is a bug you fixed? Share your screen and give a walkthrough.
  • What did you struggle with?
  • Share tips and resources you found useful.
  • Give shout-outs to anyone in your group who has helped you or that you appreciate in general.
  • Discuss what you want to do better tomorrow.

Fifth Day Expectations

Today we'll learn key HTML and CSS concepts.

  • Styling with classes
  • Divs and spans
  • Using floats

You will be expected to use styling with HTML classes, incorporate floats, and use both divs and spans for independent code review at the end of Week 3
